Job Purpose:
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) works as a member of Health Ministries Clinic team in an integrated primary-care/behavioral health setting.
The PSR assists providers to care for patients by scheduling appointments and taking phone calls for the clinic.
PSRs do participate in staff meetings, and staff training as required for the job role.
The PSRs work closely with patients to ensure the accuracy of their appointments, personal information, and billing information.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
Accurately enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record.
Accurately checks patients in for appointments and scans a variety of documents into system.
Demonstrate courtesy, patience, and helpfulness toward patients and their familiesManage appointments and stay informed of appointment statusAnswer phones promptly, courteously, and efficientlyAssist patients with registration formsEnter patient information accurately in the electronic health recordVerify insurance eligibilityVerify eligibility for sliding fee discount scheduleCollect and accurately record payments and co-payments for all servicesAssist providers as neededAbility to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information, including HIPAAFollow HMC policies and proceduresAdditional Details:

Qualifications:
Minimum education:
High school diploma/GED required6 months experience as a medical receptionist or medical records clerk preferredAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is requiredExperience with customer service and multi-line phones is preferredComputer knowledge, and ability to work independently with little direction requiresMedical terminology/procedural knowledge strongly preferred but not requiredBi-Lingual ability in Spanish is preferred, but not requiredWhy HMC:
